Alice Paul House Domestic
Violence Shelter. October 1996-January 2000. 5 hours per
week.Conduct crisis intervention on local and state hot line,
continue personal empowerment counseling with domestic violence
survivors in residency at shelter; facilitate advocacy training
for new volunteers.
JACARI Outreach to Minority
Students. Oxford, England. October 1998-July 1999. 4 hours
per week. Travel to non-native English speaking children's
homes to assist with language skills and cultural assimilation.
Contributing writer for
"Women's Times" - IUP Feminist Publication.
January 1997-December 1999. 3 hours per week. Write creative
opinion pieces on feminist and gender studies issues; review
campus-specific activities relating to women's studies.
IUP Bell Atlantic Technology
Grant Program. August 1997-May 1998. 3 hours per week.Advise
elementary school students on writing skills and using e-mail
for communication while acting as mentor.
Vice President of IUP English
Peer Mentor Association. November 1996-December 1999.
2 hours per week. Complete administrative tasks and decision
making for organization created to mentor new English majors
and assist with scheduling, curriculum, and departmental activities.
Undergraduate member of
the Commission on the Status of Women. January 1997-December
1999. Varied time commitment. Attend meetings regarding women's
issues on campus and within the State System of Higher Education;
represent undergraduates on panel of administrators, faculty,
and staff when making policy decisions; serve on women's student
leadership subcommittee and women's center creation subcommittee.

HIV Committee. September 1997-December 1999. Varied time
commitment. Represent undergraduates in HIV and AIDS health
policy decisions; approve drafts of policies to be implemented
in university-wide publications and practice; serve on panel
with administrators, faculty, and staff; plan HIV awareness
