Sociology

The Sociology Honors Track is open to declared Sociology majors with at least a 3.25 GPA in total university coursework and a 3.5 GPA in Sociology courses.

To be considered for the Sociology Honors track:

  • Students must have earned 15 credit hours in Sociology, including SOC 320.
  • Sociology majors who have met the eligibility criteria must submit an application to the Chair of Sociology after they have earned at least 56 credits.
Students complete:
  • CHSS 489 Honors Colloquium (a multi-disciplinary colloquium emphasizing problem-solving, discussion, reading and writing on a topic or theme)
  • SOC 483 Honors Thesis
  • HNRC 499 Honors Senior Synthesis
Students must earn at least a C in each course completed for the track.
