Dr. Janet Goebel, Director "As an undergraduate at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I was a member of a residential Honors College. That experience had a profound effect shaping my education, and my life today." Phone: (724)-357-4971 or 1-800-487-9122 |

Kevin Berezansky, Assistant Director "The Honors College Core curriculum teaches students to ask pertinent questions, recognize and define problems, identify arguments on all sides of an issue and to use relevant data to ultimately arrive at a carefully reasoned judgment. Simply put, they become good thinkers. However, it is their cultivation of the "habit of mind" to employ good thinking routinely that sets our students apart. As a result, our graduates enter the world with the skill sets and intellectual disposition to be successful." Phone: (724)-357-4971 or 1-800-487-9122 |

Activities in College: Tutoring at the Salvation Army, TOST and Turned crew, working for the Student Development Staff, serving as an Endnote editor, Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society) Anything else that might be interesting: I enjoy learning about the Medieval period, especially the conflicts that arose between the ruling class, such as the more powerful feudal lords, and the Papacy. I am also interested in Medieval Christianity including, iconography, relics, pilgrimage, and the Cult of the Saints. I am writing my honors thesis on the woman’s experience as a pilgrim in this era, focusing mainly on the use of her body as an instrument of her worship. I also enjoy maps, traveling, knitting sweaters, and baseball. Go Philles! |
I am a sophmore double economics and international studies major. On campus, I am a member of the Economics Club, Model U.N., Tost and Turned, Habitat for Humanity, Honors Connection, and the College Republicans. I am planning on going to Prague next fall to study economics and St. Petersburg next spring to study Russian language and culture. I love cheesecake, japanese food, going on adventures, white water rafting, roller coasters, playing games, reading and watching movies. |
I’m a sophomore Nutrition and Dietetics major. I started working at the Robert E. Cook Honors College this summer. My favorite part of the job is showing perspective students the Honors College and all around campus. On campus, I participate in Campus Crusade for Christ, Resolved, The Student Dietetic Association, and Habitat for Humanity. Here at the Honors College my critical and analytic thinking skills as well as my writing skills have greatly improved. I highly recommend the Honors College to anyone with a passion for learning. Feel free to email me with any questions you have. |
I’m a junior with a double major in Political Science and Economics,
and a minor in Women’s Studies. I’m a diehard feminist with a passion
for C-Span, and I want to combine these two loves with a career in
public policy, emphasizing women’s issues. Next summer, I hope to attend
a summer institute at Georgetown on political and economic systems, and |
I am currently a senior History major with a Spanish minor. I first learned of the Robert E. Cook Honors College when fate intervened and I was nominated for the Summer Honors Program the summer after my freshman year in high school. I fell in love with the program and returned for the next two summers. By the end of my time as a SHP student I realized the RECHC was the perfect place for me. During my time here I have had amazing experiences both in and out of class. I have participated in many university activities including History Club, Equestrian Team, Pride Alliance, Sigma Alpha Iota (music fraternity), University Chorus, Residence Hall Council, and much more. Through the Robert E. Cook Honors College enhancement fund I studied abroad in Cambridge, England; Vienna, Austria; and Larnaca, Cyprus. I also became the coordinator/head counselor of the Summer Honors Program. I have now participated as either a student or a counselor in SIX Summer Honors Programs! Through my work on the Student Development Staff I realized that I love working in student recruitment and advising, and I plan to do this in graduate school earning a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Since I want to make helping prospective, incoming, and current college students my life career, I hope you will feel free to ask me any questions that you might have about the Honors College or IUP. (No, seriously. I mean it. I will get a nerdy joy out of helping you with questions about your potential major or even how many hangers to bring to your residence hall room. I also hold the answers to other important life questions such as why there is Braille on drive-up ATMs. I can only reveal this jaw-dropping information if you email me.) |
Favorites . . . Quote: "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and very loudly proclaiming, "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!" Activities in College: German Club (President), Business Honors Anything Else Interesting About Me: I speak fluent German and am always up for a good conversation, I try everything at least once and a lot of things twice! |
