Biology
The Biology Honors Track is open to Biology majors with at least a 3.25 GPA in total university coursework.
This particular Honors Track emphasizes its Honors Thesis/Independent Study component. This two-semester sequence of research and writing is performed under the supervision of a department professor who specializes in the student's area of interest and must be approved by a thesis committee.
This honors program has been designed to enrich the undergradate education of qualified biology majors. The Biology Honors Program should be particularly attractive to and valuable for students considering careers in research and/or seeking admission to graduate or professional schools.
Students complete:
- BIOL 483 Honors Thesis/Independent Study
- BIOL 484 Honors Seminar
- BIOL 5xx/6xx Graduate Level Course
The department honors committee will select from up to 12 students per year for the program based on the number and quality of applicants and on the availability of resources.
