Anthropology

The Anthropology Honors Track is open to Anthropology majors with at least a 3.25 GPA in total university coursework and a 3.25 GPA in Anthropology courses.

Prerequisites:

  • Declared major in Anthropology
  • Completion of 60 credits
  • Permission of Department Honors Committee, Academic Advisor, and Department Chair

Application Process:

  • Students must petition the Department Honors Committee for admission no earlier than the completion of the sophomore year.
  • An application must be filed with the Chair of Anthropology and should include an application form, a letter of intent, a description of the work plan, a full transcript, and two letters of recommendation from faculty.

Students complete:

  • ANTH 483 Honors Thesis
  • CHSS 489 Honors Colloquium (a multi-disciplinary colloquium emphasizing problem-solving, discussion, reading and writing on a topic or theme)
  • HNRC 499 Honors Senior Synthesis, which fulfills the Liberal Studies Synthesis requirement.
