"I like theway honors core is spread out.
I think it's a
good idea which makes it easier for the juniors and
seniors to be more grounded in the honors community throughout
their entire college careers."
Tim DeBold
Seniors conclude their interdisciplinary honors experience with
a senior synthesis course. In order to meet the demands of senior
schedules, these are discrete courses which meet at different
times of day. Students choose one interdisciplinary topic for
the entire semester.
The question which all honors senior synthesis courses seek to
answer is "What are the obligations of the educated citizen?
What, therefore, should we do?"
There is a great deal of variety in the way this course is approached.
One version is team-taught by a philosopher and biologist to explore
"Mind and Brain". An economist teaches a version on
the topic of "Work Without Pay". A literature and an
art professor team teach a course taught in Austria on "Fin
de Siecle Vienna". |
