Printer Support Resources

The Administrative Help Desk currently provides support for Hewlett Packard LaserJet and Inkjet printers.

Before buying a printer, identify the required features in the table below to determine which printer is recommended for your situation:

Laser printing is required.

 

More than 65,000 pages will be printed monthly.

   

The printer will be used by more than one person/PC.

Color printing is required.

     

The HP LaserJet 4015N is a good choice for a black and white laser printer and provides adequate printing quality and speed for most offices. For high volume printing, the HP LaserJet 4515X is recommended. Features such as envelope feeders and duplex printing are options on these models and may be added at an additional cost. Other options are also available for the HP LaserJet 8150N.

The HP Color LaserJet 3600N is a good choice for an office that does a small to medium amount of color printing.  It gives the speed and quality that is needed.  The  HP Color LaserJet 4700N is more rugged and for departments that plan on doing a higher volume of color printing.  It is faster than the 3500N model.  Other options are also available for the HP LaserJet 4600N.

 For personal printing, the recommended color inkjet printer is the HP DeskJet 6988 while the black and white option is the HP LaserJet 3005.

There are several other printers that fall in and around the quality of these printers. If the listed printers do not have the features that are needed, please call the Administrative Help Desk for assistance with other recommendations.

If you have a PC or printer that you are transferring to another office or sending to surplus, please complete the Equipment Move Form. It is important to notify the Administrative Help Desk of these changes so that we can maintain accurate hardware, software, and networking information required to support the network.
