Please note that all PCs that are connected to the
administrative network must
meet a minimum hardware configuration:
Processor speed: 800 mhz
Hard drive: 20 GB
RAM/Memory: 512 MB

Processor Speed: 1GHz recommended
RAM/Memory: 1 GB
Hard drive: 30 GB

UPGRADES:
Hardware upgrades are handled on a individual basis. If you are interested in
purchasing components to upgrade your current PC, please contact the
Administrative Help Desk for a consultation.
LAPTOPS:
If you are interested in purchasing a laptop, please review our
laptop configurations, or consult with someone in
User Services before making this purchase. You can request assistance with
this purchase by sending an e-mail message to
it-support-center@iup.edu.
IUP faculty, staff and students can purchase PCs and other hardware items
for personal use through the
Lenovo Employee & Affiliates Purchase Program.

PDAs:
IUP-owned PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) are also supported on the
Administrative Network if they meet the following specifications:
Palm-based operating system or Pocket PC 2003-based operating system.
WebCal synchronization is needed.
Before purchasing a PDA, it is important to consult
with the Administrative Help Desk. This is because the technology
changes so frequently. Based on
your needs and the supported technology, we will recommend a device to you.
EQUIPMENT MOVES:
If you currently have a PC or printer that you are transferring to another
office, please complete the Equipment Move Form. It is important to notify the Administrative Help Desk
of these changes so that we can maintain accurate hardware, software, and
networking information required to support the network.
