In memory of one of our own...Eric Slebodnik

UPDATE: Because of generous support of IUP's 2006 University Family Campaign, IUP alumni, and Eric's own family and friends, the Eric Slebodnik Memorial Scholarship for History has reached endowment level ($15,000+).  Eric will always be remembered through the achievements of other deserving scholars. We have honored one of our own, but we  will continue to do so with additional contributions to the scholarship. Use the  links at left to continue to support this fund.

In a letter to members of the university community, Ronald Shafer of the English Department said, "The IUP community was deeply saddened by the passing of one of its finest students, Eric Slebodnik, who was killed in action in Iraq on September 28, 2005. Because of Eric’s stellar performance as a young scholar and his passionate patriotism to the cause of liberty in Iraq, the Eric Slebodnik Memorial Scholarship for History has been created in the Foundation for IUP to memorialize this talented and selfless man and to help fund the higher educational pursuit of similarly gifted youngphoto people at IUP."
