IUP Financial Aid Office Policies and Procedures

The Financial Aid Office located in Clark Hall, offers financial information and counseling to all students attending IUP. The types of financial assistance offered by the Financial Aid Office include student employment, educational loans, grants and scholarships. Counseling on debt management and loan repayment options is also available.

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Right to ask:
  • What financial aid programs are available to me?

  • How does IUP determine each type and amount of assistance I can receive?

  • I have the right to ask IUP to reconsider my aid package if a mistake is made or if my enrollment or financial circumstances change.

  • What are the procedures and deadlines for applying for aid?

  • How does IUP determine satisfactory academic progress?

Responsible for:

  • Accurately completing and submitting the appropriate application forms by the published deadline dates (errors can delay or prevent your receiving aid).
  • Using financial aid funds for educational purposes (books, off-campus housing, etc.) only.
  • You must submit requested materials, corrections, or new information on a timely basis.
  • Meeting the regulations and repayment schedules of student loans.
  • You must inform the Financial Aid Office at IUP of any grants, scholarships, or loans received from outside organizations.
  • Informing the Financial Aid Office at IUP of any information that has changed since you applied for aid (address or attendance status).
  • You will need to understand the satisfactory academic progress requirements for maintaining financial aid eligibility.

An academic year at IUP is composed of a minimum of thirty weeks of instruction in which a  full-time student enrolls for at least 24 credit hours or 950 clock hours.  These standards are used in determining eligibility for federal student aid and for loan pro-ration.
