Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Because of the approximately 35 mile proximity of the Northpointe campus to a nuclear power plant, the university must be prepared to deal with a release of nuclear material into the environment. • Remain calm. • Stay indoors and await further instructions. • Listen for emergency instructions through radio and TV broadcasts, public address system, voice mail and email, and emergency responders. • If the decision is made to evacuate the campus and move away from the vicinity of the nuclear incident, follow instructions given by the emergency service personnel on scene.
