Note:  All courses listed here may not be available every semester.  See schedule of courses for courses available in the upcoming semester.

ARHI 101 Introduction to Art
Dr. Robert Sweeny  sweeny@iup.edu  Office Phone 724-357-6942

Designed to introduce the student to the significance of art as related to contemporary living and our historical heritage.

ART 615  Art Seminar
Dr. Patricia Villalobos Echeverria  pve@iup.edu   Office Phone 724-357-4993

Opportunities for students to conduct in-depth explorations of contemporary trends/issues in studio art and to develop proficiency in the area of art criticism.  Course content and methods will include writing, verbalization, group discussion, attendance at regional exhibitions, and development of thesis/exhibition proposals.  For MA candidates only.

This is a hybrid course that will be taught in a combination of web-based teaching and participation as well as on-campus meetings.  The online interaction will foster dialogue among students and faculty involved in the course.  This will be achieved via online discussions of readings, essays submitted on topic questions assigned, and discussions of papers submitted by the entire class.  An online calendar will aid students in keeping track of deadlines and events designed for the class.  This course will focus on current trends in contemporary art form and artistic perspective.  It will also enable you to further analyze your own work within contemporary art and theory.  The culminating experience will be a submission of an exhibition proposal to a regional gallery/exhibitions venue.
