Accessing

IUP Libraries from

Off-Campus

IUP Libraries

The primary resource for Distance Education users is the IUP Libraries Web Page (http://www.lib.iup.edu).  The web page provides links to all of the IUP Libraries' books, videos, media materials, and electronic resources. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Databases

The Online Databases (http://www.lib.iup.edu/databases/databases.html) button of the Library Web Page  provides access to over fifty bibliographic and full-text databases.  Users will find citations to books and periodical articles, abstracts of articles, and (in many cases) full-text articles on a wide range of subjects.

**Off-campus users must enter their 16-digit I-Card number to gain access to these databases.icard1.gif (89552 bytes)

These numbers

If you are a distance education student without an I-Card, please call the I-Card office (724) 357-1314 for your 16-digit I-Card number.  Explain that you are a distance education student that does not come to campus.  Have your Banner ID number ready.  (Your Banner ID is the number you use to log onto URSA, and starts with @.)

Reference Services

IUP Librarians are available for consultation about any information need.

Telephone Reference

The Libraries provide a toll-free telephone number to talk directly with a reference librarian.  The number is (866) 836-8815.  Reference service is provided during regular hours.

Chat Reference

Chat Reference is a convenient way to ask an IUP Reference Librarian for quick assistance or information on how to use the Library and its resources.  In the Chat Reference Service, you will talk to an IUP Reference Librarian who will help you with the IUP Libraries Webpage.  If Chat Reference is not available or the Librarian is currently assisting another patron, you can use the Email Reference Service and your question will be answered within 24 hours.
