Center for Learning Enhancement (LEC)
Act 101 Outcomes, Program Evaluations, and Retention Reports |
Linked Courses Program
coordinates clusters of 2, 3 or 4 courses designed to form a learning
community of students for whom course content may be linked by theme, with
applied critical reading strategies, with math, with applied learning
strategies and/or with Supplemental Instruction. A sample of linked courses: DVST 110 Introduction to Critical Reading and Thinking is available as a linked course with a required liberal studies course such as History 195 or Psychology 101. Other linked arrangements focus on majors. For example, nursing majors may take Chemistry, Biology, and Learning Strategies (DVST 160) together as a learning community with Supplemental Instruction provided for the science courses. Students who are enrolled in such learning communities experience higher performance outcomes than for stand alone courses. |
