To participate in the On-Campus recruiting program, students must register and upload a resume to College Central Network (CCN). ON-CAMPUS
INTERVIEWS In fact, over 120 organizations representing manufacturing, sales, retailing, banking, financial services, government, education, social services, health care, and non-profits typically visit our office (this does not include the additional employers who attend departmental or regional career fairs). These employers are usually looking for a large number of candidates or for candidates with specific technical skills. A list of these employers, as well as instructions on signing up for these interviews is available at the beginning of each semester and is updated every two weeks. Interviews for the fall semester start in October. Interviews for the spring semester begin in February. You must sign up well in advance of the interview date, so have your resume ready! We recommend that you start interviewing this fall. Some majors will have specific interviewing "seasons." For example, the Fall semester is the key time for Accounting majors to interview, even though they may not start their jobs until the next summer or fall! Education majors will have more luck in the Spring and at job fairs specifically with school districts. Other majors will find employers scattered throughout the academic year. Most employers only come once each year, so you don't want to miss their visit! NOTE: While this is one of our most visible services, we also want to let you know that this is only one means of finding a job. What works for one person may not work for another. EMPLOYERS who visited IUP last year to interview: AMP, Inc., Bureau of the Census, Computer Sciences Corporation, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Dick's Clothing & Sporting Goods, Disney World, Eat'n Park Restaurants, Ernst & Young LLP, Federal Bureau of Investigation, FiServ, Inc., General Motors, Giant Eagle, Glen Mills Schools, Hyatt Hotels, JC Penney, Kaufmann's Dept. Stores, Keystone Data Services, KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, Lazarus Department Stores, Marriott, Mellon Bank, Peace Corps, Penn Capital Financial Services, Penn Fuel Gas, Inc., PNC Bank, PPG Industries, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Prince George County (Md.) Schools, Shared Medical Systems, State Farm Insurance, The Vanguard Group, York County (PA) Teacher Recruiting Consortium
Student Employment Center (SEC) The Student Employment Center serves as a liaison between students and employers. Part-time job vacancies submitted by employers are posted to the SEC website. Postings include both on-campus and off-campus employment opportunities. As an undergraduate student, employment is the most common activity. In addition, statistics show that employment has a positive effect on persistence and degree completion.
National Student Exchange (NSE)
The National Student Exchange (NSE) is a program for
undergraduate exchange within the United States and
Canada. NSE students study for a semester or full
academic year at another NSE college/university in order
to take advantage of courses not offered at IUP. The
experience allows students to continue their studies
while living in a different geographical region while
broadening their personal, educational, and cultural
perspectives.
