Whether you've got a year or just a semester before you graduate, you've reached another transition period in your life. You may be concerned about what lies ahead. Are you prepared for the next stage of your life? You want to enjoy the upcoming months before you start your life in the "real world." But you have a choice to make now: do you start your career search today or put it off until you have more time? Facts FACTS It takes a new college graduate anywhere from three to six months to land his or her first professional position. Personal factors such as your desired geographic area, salary requirements, experience, and grades can influence this time period. And don't forget that basic economic formula of employer demand vs. candidate supply! For those of you who have graduate or professional school in mind, we're not leaving you out. The process of applying and being admitted to the program of your choice is also lengthy and competitive. And you'll still need to develop your job-hunting skills. The truth is that the sooner you take action on your career path, the sooner you'll reach your destination. The Office of Career Services is available to help you develop the skills you'll need for a successful transition. PREPARING
