1. What is the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society? Delta Epsilon Iota was established for the purpose of identifying and encouraging undergraduate scholars whose Dedication, Enthusiasm, and Initiative distinguish them as models of achievement, leadership, and service. Committed to the advancement of its members, the Society promotes lifetime career development, supports student-initiated chapter development, and reserves a significant portion of organizational revenue for scholarship awards.

2. Who are the members of Delta Epsilon Iota? Delta Epsilon Iota members include students from high school to PhD programs. Our college level program consists of sophomores, juniors, and seniors at accredited colleges and universities across the United States, pursuing degrees in all fields of study. Our Junior Membership program is intended to identify talented high school Juniors and Seniors in order to introduce them to our organization with anticipation that they will become active members once they begin their pursuit of higher education. Our graduate level membership traditionally has the highest GPA threshold of any membership category. Graduate members tend to get involved in order to participate as mentors to undergraduate members and for networking purposes.

3. What are the benefits of membership? The most immediate and permanent benefit of Delta Epsilon Iota membership is national recognition of the level of achievement it identifies. Delta Epsilon Iota promotes the principles of Dedication, Enthusiasm, and Initiative in undergraduate life by rewarding exceptionally outstanding members with financial scholarships, and by encouraging leadership opportunities in chapter development. To give real and relevant meaning to the term "lifetime membership"... the importance of intentional career path development is emphasized in our programs, publications, member services, and community and corporate connections. As both membership and alumni rolls grow, career networking opportunities and resources also multiply.

4. How can I become a member? Outside of the chapter development process, students are invited into membership based on information provided by your school. Our college level program requires Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status at an accredited college or university, having completed at least 30 semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better. The junior membership program requires high school level Juniors and Seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Graduate level membership has a specific academic requirement based on your University. If your school has an established chapter of Delta Epsilon Iota, you should automatically receive a membership invitation when you attain the official requirements, according to information supplied to the national office by your school.

5. What does the membership fee include? Your membership fee is a one-time charge for lifetime affiliation with the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. You will receive a personalized certificate in your membership welcome package. In addition, approximately 80% of fee revenue is returned to members in the form of benefits and services: A significant portion is committed to member scholarships, awarded annually at both the Chapter and National levels. Another large portion provides for national and chapter development, benefiting current members, alumni, and academic institutions. There are no fees charged to schools for establishing local chapters, and chapter dues are discouraged. Instead, the National Office provides a percentage of chapter member fees to each chapter for its local program expenses.

6. How do I maintain "active member" status? Members of Delta Epsilon Iota attending a school with an established chapter may claim active chapter status by attending chapter meetings and activities. Chapter activities provide an affirming experience in leadership, fellowship, and learning. The connection with campus career services can be invaluable. Local chapter activity is not a requirement for national membership. To maintain active national affiliation, simply inform the National Office annually of any changes in your name, address, or academic institution.

7. What are the opportunities for alumni members? Throughout your life, identification as a member of Delta Epsilon Iota will positively convey the dedication, enthusiasm, and initiative demonstrated by your collegiate achievements. In addition, there are many ways to stay active in Delta Epsilon Iota after you graduate. Articles of interest to the membership are invited for publishing consideration, particularly those that relate academic achievement to career or community service accomplishments in our on-line publication. As the organization grows in both numbers and experience, the networking alliance of members is becoming increasingly significant. Your lifetime membership keeps you in touch with the changing job market, and you can use and help strengthen the career resources and services available to members as you proceed on your own career path. Local chapters thrive on strong relationships with their communities. They need contacts for local employment, community service suggestions, and speakers for their meetings and New Member Receptions. If you choose to support a local chapter, you will connect with some of the best and brightest students at that school, and personally encourage Delta Epsilon Iota's mission.

8. How do I record changes in my address or school? Please notify the National Office of any changes in name, address, academic enrollment, or anticipated graduation date. This helps us keep costs down and records accurate. Choose any method of contact below that is easiest for you.
