ATS/Library Supported Services

Fall 04 brings with it the availability of 3 new software programs.  IUP has utilized Technology Fee funding to acquire a site license for these packages.  The license permits all members of the University to use the software both at work and at home.  For details on each program please select the appropriate link below.  Please also refer to the other Technical Services available through the library as listed below.

  • Using WriteNote
Writenote is a web-based bibliographic management tool that interfaces with Microsoft Word and utilizes services on the Writenote website. WriteNote delivers the tools to capture and organize essential online research, and assist in the creation of properly formatted manuscripts and bibliographies. WriteNote supports students' research needs by providing assistance during the discovery and writing phases of the research process.  Undergraduate students can benefit from this new package.

  • Using EndNote

Endnote is a full-featured research and writing tool that functions with software installed on the local PC.  The main functions of the program are:

    - Generating a bibliography in the correct style for publication.

    - Maintaining a database of references,

    - Downloading references from other databases such as Ovid or Proquest,

    - Supporting links to references in word-processed documents.

Scholars who use many references and citations, such as faculty members, graduate students, and honors students, will benefit most from this software.

  • Using TurnItIn
IUP has utilized Technology Fee funding to acquire a license for TurnItIn.  TurnItIn is setting the standard in online plagiarism prevention.  TurnItIn promotes originality in student work, improve student writing and research skills, encourage collaborative learning, and save valuable instructor time.
