~ Albert T. (Tim) Cejka '73 ~ Tim Cejka has earned success and distinction by interacting regularly with presidents, prime ministers, and energy ministers. As president of ExxonMobil Exploration Company, Mr. Cejka is the highest ranking IUP executive at any Fortune 500 corporation. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Cejka is honored as a 2006 distinguished alumnus. Shortly after earning his Bachelor of Science in Geology from IUP in 1973, Mr. Cejka joined ExxonMobil as a geophysicist in offshore California and then served as a production geologist in Louisiana. Next came experience supervising an onshore Gulf Coast operation, an offshore project management post in the Gulf of Mexico, and a promotion to manager of all geological and geophysical operations in the entire gulf region. Mr. Cejka later worked in advisory capacities, first as a planning manager, then as the exploration advisor for the Netherlands and Germany, and finally as advisor to the corporate upstream director. In 1993, Mr. Cejka was named vice president of Exxon Ventures CIS; in 1999, he became vice president of ExxonMobil Exploration for the Caspian-Middle East region. In 2001, as executive vice president, he oversaw exploration and geoscience in Europe, Russia, and the Caspian-Middle East region. Concurrent with being named president of ExxonMobil Exploration, Mr. Cejka became a vice president of the parent corporation. In his duties as president, Mr. Cejka leads ExxonMobil’s important new business ventures and manages an annual budget of over $1 billion. He serves as the company’s primary contact with top government officials of every country in which the corporation is presently exploring or wants to explore. Mr. Cejka remains an active and involved force in his profession. He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, co-chair of the United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Board of Trustees for the Houston Museum of Natural Science. A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Cejka is married to the former Debra Phillips, a 1973 IUP alumna. They have two daughters, Erin and Megan, and reside in Houston, Texas. In December, 2005, Mr. Cejka returned to his alma mater to receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree, presented by President Tony Atwater.
