Recruitment
For high school students investigating IUP, alumni are
the most valuable resource that exists. Your
valuable insight could help someone choose IUP!
Think of how much
valuable information you could provide - advice you
might wish you had gotten when you were trying to select
a university. Your support in our recruitment
efforts is essential for our ongoing success.
Consider volunteering today.
“Helping to recruit
high-quality students to IUP is one of the easiest but
most meaningful ways alumni can support the university.
All you have to do is keep your eyes and ears open for
the right kind of students and let the university know
about them. It doesn’t hurt, either, to tell any
prospective students you know about the role IUP played
in your life. Alumni can also represent IUP at college
fairs and hotel receptions throughout the United States.
In only a few hours of your time, you can provide so
much support to IUP!”

Chapter Activities
Miles and miles away from campus, it's still possible to
capture the spirit of IUP through Alumni Association
chapters. Chapter activities provide the opportunity to
get together with other IUP alumni to share memories of
your alma mater and to help promote the university in
the cities you call home.
Currently we have active chapters in
Harrisburg,
Indiana, Johnstown, and Pittsburgh. To run successfully,
chapters must have enthusiastic volunteers planning each
activity.
“As an active member of
the IUP regional alumni network, I’ve had the
opportunity to promote the university and still have
fun. With IUP regional activities such as ballgames,
picnics, and after-work receptions, I’m able to make new
friends and meet the influential members of the business
community, all at the same time. I take great pride in
my IUP education and by being actively involved in the
regional alumni network, I can share that enthusiasm and
promote the university in a variety of ways. I encourage
all alumni to get involved.”

Become a Mentor
Calling all
alumni! Today’s students face many decisions and
challenges when reviewing their career options. One of
the most challenging changes a student may face is the
transition from campus to a job opportunity in a major
metropolitan area. This is where your insight and
experience can be a valuable resource to our graduating
seniors as well as other IUP alumni who are making new
career choices. Volunteer now to become a mentor.

Legislative
and Government Advocacy
If you live in the
state of Pennsylvania, you can take part in a grassroots
advocacy campaign to promote IUP's interests in
legislative matters. All it really requires is
contacting your legislator once or twice a year on
various issues. To learn more, visit IUP's
Governmental
Relations Office.
“With more than sixty
thousand IUP alumni living in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, we have the opportunity to be a powerful
voice in support of the mission of public higher
education. We are remarkable examples of Pennsylvanians
who received a high quality, affordable education from a
state-owned university. It is our responsibility to
convey the message to our legislators and policymakers
that investing in the State System of Higher Education
is truly an investment in the future of Pennsylvania.”
