Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen
Wallis and Janet Braman Music Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman music major whose performing area is one of the following: violin, viola, cello, or double bass.
Freshman Music Scholarship
Student must be an incoming freshman music major. Awards are based on performance ability and equally shared among all applied studios (instruments and voice).
Frank and Mary Gorell Scholarship for Music
Established by longtime Indiana residents and patrons of the arts, this scholarship benefits outstanding and talented students enrolled in the Department of Music with a concentration in the string program.
Ann M. Hayward Music Scholarship
Awarded to entering freshman vocal majors by recommendation of faculty.
IUP Alumni Association Scholarship
Awards are made to outstanding incoming freshman students with preference given to children or dependents of IUP alumni.
Gloria Bryan Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time music student, to an incoming freshman, or to an upper-class cello or bass major by recommendation of faculty.
Orval and Marion Kipp Memorial Scholarship for Art
This award, created in memory of two members of the IUP faculty, is presented to talented incoming freshman students enrolling in the Department of Art.
Joanne P. Lovette Memorial Fund
Awarded to an incoming freshman who demonstrates outstanding artistic talent, via portfolio review, in the opinion of the Art Department Scholarship committee. Retention of this scholarship is based on maintaining an overall 2.8 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in studio/art courses.
William P. Moorhead Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student studying organ in the Department of Music. It was established as a memorial to Mrs. William P. Moorhead.
Carol Teti Memorial Scholarship for Organ Music
Awarded to a student studying organ for credit in the music department, but who does not need to be a music major. Student must have a GPA of 3.25.
Jean J. Slenker Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of a 1953 graduate of IUP who was a member of the Department of Art faculty for 31 years, this scholarship is awarded to promising students in the media of Fabrics, including papermaking and its related art forms. Consideration is also given to majors in Art Education.
Evelyn Swauger Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate or graduate piano majors in the Department of Music.
Theater-by-the-Grove Freshman Talent Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman Theater major based on audition/interview for students who demonstrate promising talent or design/technical areas.

Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students
Robert K. Alico, Jr., Memorial Scholarship
The Alico Scholarship is awarded to a junior art major with a 3.2 GPA or above in the major (3.0 overall average). The student must be a permanent resident of Pennsylvania and demonstrate financial need. The recipient will have completed junior year by spring semester and demonstrate artistic talent.
Lloyd and Libby Bastian Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a Theater major interested in pursuing a career in costume design and technology. The student must also demonstrate financial need.
M. Vashti Burr Memorial Award
A scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is deemed most deserving, with consideration given to economic need and excellence of industry and scholarship. This award is given through the generosity of William V. Whittington.
Charles A. and Clarabell Tweed Davis Memorial Music Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to one or more rising sophomores enrolled in the music department. Award will continue for two years providing that the recipient earns an overall GPA of 2.8 and a music studies GPA of at least 3.0. The recipient must exhibit outstanding musical skills in a particular musical discipline and contribute to the musical discipline and the university through ensembles, recitals, etc.
Donald G. Eisen Scholarship
Awarded to a Theater major who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in, commitment to, and love of the study of theater as a liberal art. Merit judged in terms of demonstrated accomplishment (including but not limited to coursework) in at least three of the following areas: dramatic literature, theater history, dramatic and theatrical theory, theater criticism, and textual analysis.
Thomas V. Frazier Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship awarded to a second-semester junior for the senior year. The award is based on financial need and a “deep interest in theater arts.” Student may be a drama student or active in off-stage roles.

H. Eugene Hulbert Music Scholarship
Awarded to a student majoring in music education, music performance, or liberal arts on the basis of academic excellence, music excellence, and financial need. Completion of four semesters in the music department with a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester is required.
Gloria Bryan Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time music student, to an incoming freshman, or to an upperclassman cello or bass major by recommendation of faculty.
Mary Helen Krouse MacDonald Memorial Scholarship
Created to reward exceptionally gifted art majors. The scholarships are awarded to winners of the student entries in the juried art exhibitions held in the Community Arts Center of Cambria County in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Awarded to an art student from IUP (freshman-senior) chosen by juror of the show for artistic merit.
Benjamin T. Miller Art Scholarship
Awarded to upper-class (except last-semester senior) art majors who have completed 29 credits, have a GPA 3.0 or above, submit one piece of creative/scholarly work with a one-page justification of the selection, and provide one page outlining financial need.
Mary H. Muldowney Music Scholarship
Friends of Mary Muldowney, a long-time faculty member and choral director at IUP, funded this scholarship for a senior Voice major.
Shelly G. Portman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, established by the Portman family, will be awarded each year to juniors excelling in concert dance. The faculty in the Department of Theater will make the selection.
Ralph Reynolds Memorial Scholarship
This award recognizes talent in the areas of Art and Art Education. Student must submit portfolio, documentation, and transcripts for consideration.
Ralph Reynolds Memorial Scholarship (Painting)
Available to Pennsylvania residents majoring in Art or Art Education. Scholarship is awarded to one or two senior Art majors who are juniors at the time of application. Apply in the spring semester of junior year. Scholarship is awarded on the basis of artistic talent and achievement with an emphasis on painting; a portfolio is required with supportive documentation that must include current academic progress sheet and short biography. Candidates should have completed at least nine credits in painting.
Frank Ross Memorial Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding upper-class students in the College of Fine Arts. The awards are presented in memory of a former ceramics faculty member.
Student Art Scholarship Award
Awarded to deserving senior IUP art students in recognition of their efforts in the Department of Art.

Carol Teti Memorial Scholarship
Preference given to undergraduate organ majors within the Department of Music; secondary preference may be given to graduate students or students enrolled in other majors. A GPA of 3.25 is required. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in applied organ courses during the semesters to which the scholarship will be applied and be selected by audition performance as determined by the Organ Scholarship Selection Committee.
Gary J. Olmstead Percussion Scholarship
Established to honor the talents and career of a distinguished faculty member and musician, this scholarship is awarded to outstanding students in the Department of Music who are studying percussion.
