Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

IUP Alumni Association Scholarship 
Awards are made to outstanding incoming freshman students with preference given to children or dependents of IUP alumni.

Carol L. Moorhead Scholarship
This is awarded to an incoming freshman student(s) enrolled in the primary, preferably early childhood, education curriculum.

Ethel L. Morrow Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an entering freshman enrolled as a full-time student in the College of Education and Educational Technology. The student must score 1000 or better on the SAT and be ranked in the top 10 percent of his/her class. The student must demonstrate good character, leadership, and promise for success. Consideration is given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Lulu Braughler Stewart Memorial Scholarship 
This scholarship, established in memory of a 1924 graduate of Indiana Normal School who taught for many years in Indiana County public schools, benefits graduates from Marion Center High School who plan to pursue a degree in elementary education at IUP.

Barbara Thomas Scholarship
Awarded to graduates of high schools in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, who enroll to study Elementary Education. Renewal of the scholarship is contingent upon recipient maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA each year.

Marion B. Welsch Memorial Scholarship 
Established by a 1925 alumna, this scholarship is awarded to talented and deserving students enrolled in the College of Education and Educational Technology who demonstrate financial need in obtaining their education.

Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students

Jemima S. Boyd Scholarship
This scholarship, established from the estate of Grace Noble Lacock, is awarded annually by the College of Education and Educational Technology to students who intend to teach in schools in Pennsylvania.

Maude O. Brungard Scholarship
Awarded to Speech-Language Pathology majors. The recipient must be a graduating senior with outstanding academic achievement who will enter IUP’s master’s degree program in Speech-Language Pathology. The minimum GPA required is 3.0.

Beverly Sue Clark Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior preparing for a career in teaching. Student must be a resident of Pennsylvania with preference given to residents of Armstrong, Cambria, Indiana, Jefferson, or Westmoreland county and to survivors of casualties of the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

Mary Flegal Harte Scholarship
Scholarships for students who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and demonstrate a financial need.

McFarland Scholarships
McFarland scholarships are awarded each year to honor upper-class students who have earned more than 45 but fewer than 75 credits at IUP, who have grade-point averages of at least 3.8, and who have made special contributions to the university and community.

Helen Wood Morris Scholarship
Lieutenant Colonel L. M. Morris established this scholarship in memory of his wife, a graduate of the university. Recipients must be education majors and rank in the top 10 percent of their class based upon the completion of 60 credit hours of academic work.

Dr. Russel C. Nelson Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded each year to a talented upper-class music education major selected by the Music Scholarship committee.

Felicia G. Renck Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior or master’s student in Early Childhood Education who has earned a 3.5 GPA.

Marion B. Welsch Memorial Scholarship 
Established by a 1925 alumna, this scholarship is awarded to talented and deserving students enrolled in the College of Education and Educational Technology who demonstrate financial need in obtaining their education.
