With their small college atmosphere and supportive academic environment, IUP’s two branch campuses offer a smooth transition from high school to a large public university. Students may attend either branch campus for the entire freshman year and for some sophomore-level courses before transferring to the Indiana campus.
The Punxsutawney campus is located 28 miles north of the Indiana campus.
The Northpointe campus is north of Pittsburgh off of
Route 28, near the Pittsburgh Mills shopping complex. Both campuses carry full accreditation as integral parts of the undergraduate programs of IUP. This means that courses offered at the campuses are of the same quality as those offered at the Indiana campus.

Programs of Study
IUP’s regional campuses offer basic Liberal Studies courses for most majors in the various undergraduate colleges of the university. Students may schedule a full program for the freshman year and some sophomore-level courses. Students enrolled at either of the branch campuses are eligible for transfer to the Indiana campus after completing two semesters, maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA, and earning at least 21 undergraduate semester hours.
Students may reside at the Punxsutawney Campus or
commute from home.
The Northpointe Campus offers for commuters several
two-year degree programs as well as freshman- and
sophomore-level courses for students who later plan to
transfer to the Indiana Campus. The campus also offers
several graduate-level programs.
