Chef
Herr is a graduate of Indiana University of
Pennsylvania's Academy of Culinary Arts, Class of 1997.
In addition, Chef Herr continued his education at the
IUP Indiana campus, having earned a bachelors degree in
hotel, restaurant and institutional management.
Chef
Herr was named chef de cuisine of Century Restaurant and
Bar in August, 2004. He will be responsible for menu
design and implementation, complete kitchen supervision
and personnel training.
The award-winning Century Restaurant and
Bar features modern American cuisine and specializes in
seafood, including sushi. Century was recently honored
with the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Award.
Chef
Herr’s impressive culinary background includes
experience serving as sous chef at the award-winning
Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown in Washington, D.C. Chef Herr
began his career as p.m. senior saucier and p.m.
rotisserie chef at The Duquesne Club, an exclusive
private club, located in the heart of downtown
Pittsburgh since 1881. There he apprenticed with
executive Chef Keith Coughenour. He continued his
career as senior sous chef at Pinehurst Golf Resort and
Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The
recipient of many professional awards of distinction,
including several gold and silver medals and Best of
Show titles from the American Culinary Federation, Chef
Herr has made quite a name for himself after graduating
from IUP.
