Inclement Weather
Policy
IUP is committed to the safety and security
of its students, faculty, staff, and
visitors. Therefore, the decision on whether
or not classes or programs and events will
be held during periods of adverse weather
conditions is based on the overall concern
for the university community. Because of the
university's residential nature, IUP will
remain open in all cases, and classes and
events will continue as scheduled if at all
possible during periods of inclement
weather.
Should adverse weather conditions arise or
if university officials anticipate
conditions that would make it inadvisable to
conduct classes or events on a given day,
the president may, at his or her discretion,
cancel classes or events.
Please do not
call University Public Safety during severe
weather. In the event of cancellation
of classes or events, notification will be
provided through the following:

Reverse 911
Announcements will be made only if
the university's regular operation is
disrupted. Announcements will not be
made indicating that IUP is open. Questions
regarding the Inclement Weather Policy may
be directed to the Office of Human Resources
at 724-357-2431.
New Postal Service Hours
University Postal Services in Folger Hall
is extending its hours of operation:
Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to
6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m.
Postal window services and student parcel
pick-up will be available during the new
hours; however, university department mail
delivery will follow the regular Monday
through Friday pick-up and delivery
schedule.
Centralized residence student mail boxes
are also available, and two fifteen-minute
parking spaces for Post Office
business and a broad range of postal
services are now open for use.

Participate in
KidsRead
KidsRead is a literacy program that
assists school aged children in the local
Indiana area, the target grade levels
being K-4. All
activities are planned for one on one
tutoring with a college student acting as
the tutor. Both tutors and students are
being sought to participate this spring.

Register for
Emergency Notification System
Students, faculty and staff, and parents
may now register to be notified in the
case of life-situations though the
university's new mass-emergency warning
system. The system, called Reverse 911,
notifies registrants through university
e-mail accounts, voice and text messaging
to cell phones, and voice messaging to
home phones.
All IUP e-mail addresses have been added
to the system, as have all desk phones
across campus.
Those who wish to register additional
phone numbers should log in to URSA.
Registration information can be found on
the Personal Information Screen under
Insert/Update Cell Phone and Emergency
Contact.
Parents who are interested in registering
must ask their enrolled students to
register on their behalf. By adding a
phone number under "Home Phone Number."
